Santiago: Cajón del Maipo, Hot Springs, Waterfall & Chilean BBQ

Presented by Preview World

From £194.00

We will start at 3 pm and then enter in to the middle of the Andes Mountains range, we will witness the majestic sunset it offers. We will pass through the Cajón del Maipo valley, following the Maipo River, and travel through various unique villages until we reach the famous Chocolate House. After admiring its marvellous architecture, we will head to the Velo de la Novia Waterfall, where you can appreciate the power of the water and take photos! We will enjoy the sunset from a viewpoint overlooking the volcano and the towering peaks of the Andes, followed by a traditional Chilean barbecue paired with wines from central and southern Chile. 5.0 Great Tour with Tasty BBQ

Stephanie_O, May 2026

We had a great time on our hot springs and BBQ tour. It was well paced and our guide Jaime was a great driver and very knowledgeable. There's just enough time at the chocolate house, hot springs and waterfall. The hot springs are a fun time, with a beautiful view. The BBQ is delicious and they are generous with the drinks. If you get a night with little moon, you'll see lots of stars from their deck. Would definitely recommend.

5.0 Highly recommend for an unforgettable night in the mountains!

Shalysse_K, May 2026

Long evening, but must do experience if you love the stars, relaxing, enjoying hot springs, and enjoying good food. The views are breathtaking!

5.0 Five Star Experience!

jayhawk71, April 2026

This tour was the highlight of our visit to Santiago. Beautiful scenery, wonderful hot springs and an indescribable night enjoying the Chilean BBQ and night sky. Truly a must do, unique experience! Thank you to our guide, Francisco, who made our time together so special. Lifetime memories!!!

5.0 Great experience

Kristy_M, April 2026

So much fun So many places to go and Jaime was a great tour guide. We soaked in the springs and experienced snow! And had delicious food

4.0 Adventure in the Andes near Santiago

Daniel_G, April 2026

The tour is interesting and the views are very beautiful, but it is necessary to check the weather forecast in advance and make sure it is good and it does not get too cold. The structure of bathrooms and dressing rooms of the thermal pools is very precarious. The barbecue is served in an old ski lodge by local guides and staff who are all very kind and friendly. It’s not exactly a romantic experience, as the brochure seems to suggest, but it’s an adventure worth checking out.

5.0 Stunning Andes

Jo_H, April 2026

This tour was absolutely incredible! I’ll start by saying it’s not for everyone—but if you have an adventurous spirit, you’re going to love every second of it. Jamie picked us up right on time in a comfortable 4WD that easily fit our group of four, along with another lovely couple. The drive up into the Andes alone was an adventure—scenic, exciting, and a great lead-up to what was to come. The hot springs are rustic, but truly stunning. We were lucky enough to have snow falling while we were soaking, which made the experience feel completely magical. Afterward, we headed to a charming, authentic German-style lodge for a BBQ. Walking in to an open fire with Chilean wine and pisco sours waiting for us was the perfect touch. The food was fantastic—and there was plenty of it! The hospitality from everyone involved was warm and genuine. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this tour. Sitting in the hot springs high in the Andes was an unforgettable highlight—truly a wonderful experience.

5.0 Fantastic experience! ...

Warren_H, April 2026

Fantastic experience! The guides were great, the scenery was beautiful, and the food was amazing. I would do it again.

5.0 Incredible

Passport643980, April 2026

I usually book all my trips at least 12 months in advance, however after a few last minute changes i booked this trip a day before. Wow I am so glad I did. Sebastian our guide was fabulous at guiding us through the day. The arrangements were slick in terms of timings and communication ahead of being picked up. The trip starts at lunch time, a fairly long journey but driving through the local towns and a visit to the chocolate shop broke the journey up. The chocolate shop is lovely, very nice chocolates. We went to the waterfalls and to thw hot springs incredible the scenwry is stunning and such an experience. Plenty of time at each stop but not too much. We then drove from the springs through the most incredible sunset I have ever seen to the bbq and wow. What a beautiful set up the bbq was on, the food was amazing, lots of gorgeous drinks and stunning surroundings. After the bbq the lights went down and the sky was full of stars, Sebastian was fabulous so knowledgeable pointing them out to us and helping everyone to take photos a night i will never forget. The most amazing trip of a 2.5 week stay with lots of trips taken in sth America. Highly recommend. Just to be mindful the journey is very off road so very bumpy if you get car sick I would recommend taking some travel sickness pills.

5.0 Worth the Trip in Santiago!

Matthew_H, April 2026

Lovely experience all around. The dinner at the end of the night was spectacular - the food was incredible. Lots of options from Wine, Cheeses, Beef, Pork, non-alc, etc. The driving did take a bit of time but the driver points things out along the way. The thermal pools were also spectacular!

5.0 Great experience. Juan...

Philip_V, April 2026

Great experience. Juan Francisco is a fun and knowledgeable guide. Waterfall, hot springs and BBQ under the stars were amazing.

5.0 Favorite tour-do it!

168chelsiew, April 2026

This was my favorite experience that we booked! It’s a long day, but amazing! You get to see so much! The mountains, hot spring and ending with a bbq under the stars was magical! Everyone kept talking about how great of an experience it was! The guides—Chris, Sebastian and Fransisco were nice, fun and very knowledgeable. It was a group of 20 of us and they handled us with care and patience! Communication when booking and day of was excellent. Highly recommend!!!

5.0 What a wonderful experience!

Andrew_R, April 2026

We did the English tour and Francisco was just a wonderful host and tour guide. He showed us some of the most beautiful sights we had ever seen. It is an intimate tour of 4-5 which makes your tour feel all the more special. This tour was absolutely worth every penny.

5.0 Absolutely fabulous

Debbie_B, March 2026

Absolutely fabulous. What’s not to like about a chocolate house, waterfall, natural hot pools, non paved roads and an outstanding bbq followed by a night sky talk. Highly recommend.

5.0 Andes Exprience

Husna_K, March 2026

It is amazing tour from start to the end. Our tour guide Sebastian was very good. The views of Andes was so mesmerizing. The hot springs was very nice. The bonus was night where we were are able see the star. I would definitely recommend this tour. The roads to the Andes was narrow with alot of turns and some of the roads are rough so, if you car sick this might not good for you. The tour was totally worth it.

5.0 Stunning views great food

Debra_S, March 2026

While parts of the road were rough the hot water pools at the end were worth the effort. Absolutely stunning views and the BBQ at the end was delicious. Really enjoyed the star gazing, and tips on night photography.

4.0 The trip was almost as...

Deborah_S, March 2026

The trip was almost as described. The waterfall and hot springs were nice. A portion of the ride is very bumpy, and the vehicle used was less than desirable. We had 5 people with all our backpacks and it was quite cramped in the middle seat. Our guide was not very informative, he was actually pretty quiet; we had to initiate most of the conversation. It seemed like one of the other vehicles in the group had a much more informative guide.

5.0 Worth It

Noah_H, March 2026

Consider this a must do if you’re spending more than a day or two in Santiago. Beautiful views from the road, amazing photo opportunities on foot, relaxing hot springs during the day, and good food before stargazing to close the night. I am happy to have booked this.

5.0 Rocky ride to the hot...

Carol_C, March 2026

Rocky ride to the hot springs but well worth it. Chilean BBQ was delicious with lots of Chilean wine flowing.

5.0 EXCPETIONAL!! Must do experience!

Maureen_V, March 2026

Absolutely awesome experience. Each stop was amazing but the pinnacle for us was the thermal pools, with stunning views of The Andes, we had a blast. Francisco was a brilliant guide, we chatted constantly and enjoyed the playlist and the singalong. The views are something else! It's a very well thought out excursion. The BBQ at the end was in such a stunning setting, watching the sunset and then star gazing. Phenomenal. Absolutely must do experience.

5.0 Wonderful day. Felt like I was with good friends at the end..

James_S, March 2026

Jaimecwas a wonderful tour guide and a great driver through the back roads of the Andes. The dinner at the end was the highlight of a great day.

5.0 Awesome experience

Patrick S, March 2026

Well worth the money. Very informative trip. The guide was very helpful and met any needs we may have had. Thank you!

5.0 Nice way to experience "Chile" : outside Santiago

D3499MZsusanw, March 2026

Breath-taking beauty of the Andes Mountains! Lovely opportunity to enjoy "Chile" outside Santiago. The mountains. the rivers, the scenery, the hot springs, the bar.b.q under the stars: were all outstanding. There is a lot of driving. But the trip was nicely broken up with a short town visit on the way, a stop at the quaint chocolate shop, and the waterfall, all before the hot springs. All provided opportunities to stretch your legs, get some water, or stop at a bathroom. Our guide, Jaime, was the "chief adventure coordinator". He did a wonderful job of keeping everyone comfortable and safe. It was a memorable experience for us and a highlight of our trip to Chile. It was wonderful to have the door-to-door service from our hotel. Super easy and on-time. Excellent communications. Very nice group of other travelers on our trip. We all bonded well. The only potential 'negative' is that, in my view, the wine selection at the bar.b.q was not "reserve quality" as advertised. Lots of cabernet savignon and merlot. Short on carmenere or other Chilean specialties.

5.0 Mountain escape.

Deb, March 2026

Fabulous experience, great option to see the mountains and enjoy! a good mix of activities with great staff who share a lot about the area and it’s history.

5.0 Incredible value, sights and experiences

Brian_A, March 2026

This will take up an entire second half of your day - from after lunch (eat first!) on to about midnight - and it is very much worth it! The drive out of the city is what it is, but after that the scenery of the entry into and journey through the mountains is fantastic. Francisco was our guide and did a great job answering questions and providing good context for different points of interest along the way. The Chocolate House had terrific ice cream and very rich hot chocolate, which was enough to tide us over for most of the afternoon. After this, the ride is a bit bumpy (any who get carsick should prepare accordingly), but the views you experience and the eventual hot spring are very much worth it. After all else, we ended with some excellent, freshly prepared Chilean BBQ and plenty to drink around a fire and appetizers. The food was delicious, and even though the night was too cloudy to see any stars, we still enjoyed chatting with the others on the trip and admiring the nature around us. All in all, I would’ve paid a higher price for this trip in retrospect. It’s worth every bit you pay and more!

4.0 Amazing hot springs are the highlight of the tour

Jon_R, March 2026

Firstly it's a long bumpy drive to the hot springs in a uncomfortable vechile, but wow, they are the stand out of the day, amazing! The first stop of the day, at the choclate house was an ideal chance to stretch the legs and grab an ice cream (not included in cost). Second stop at the waterfall was cool. Amazing scenery and photo opportunities. Finally after what seemed an eternity, and some bone shaking jarring on dirt tracks and riverbeds we arrived. And it was all worth it. The springs are amazing, the best part of the day for us. Wish we could have stayed a little longer. The shower block was under repair and was shabby, no warm water to shower with and smelly toilets, very basic - just a warming. Then onto the BBQ, which was a let down. Not enough alcoholic drinks, and limited soft drinks. Even though I pre warned, many times, I didn't really get anything to eat as a vegan. Which isn't fair when steak and sausage, and lots of other meaty options are being handed out. I'd recommend taking your own snacks and water. Finally some star gazing to finish off the evening, which was fun and factual. Just a long drive back the way we came to be dropped off at our hotel in Santiago late into the next day. Our tour guide was pleasent, helpful and funny, and he spoke good English.

5.0 Don’t miss out on this one!

Faun_M, March 2026

Francisco was our guide. He was very informative, had excellent driving skills and a 🔥 playlist for the long drive. They taught us how to take pictures of the stars with our phones, the food was excellent, and the hot springs were very relaxing. This was by far the best excursion we’ve had while visiting Santiago, Chile!

5.0 Great adventure in a beautiful unique area

Gregg_M, March 2026

It is a very unique adventure with amazing scenery including steep mountains, waterfalls, rivers, a hot springs and a fabulous setting for a bbq ultimately under a night sky where even the Milky Way and a nebula are visible. Francisco made the whole experience really fun despite the long drive to get there.

5.0 Amazing landscapes and memorable experiences

Leticiaftorres, March 2026

Unforgettable tour in the summer! Worth every penny. The guide Juan Francisco, in addition to being very helpful, explained every detail: from geological formations, history to astronomy.

5.0 Don’t t miss this one! Authentic Chilean tour!

Jeannette_Z, March 2026

This is a fabulous opportunity to travel deep into the Andes to a rural volcanic hot spring. Our guide, Juan Fransisco, was very knowledgeable and a great communicator. He gave us many facts about Chilean architecture, culture, and wines. Although the road was very bumpy at times, soaking in the volcanic thermal pools was worth the journey. We were fortunate to see a beautiful full moon rise over the Andes as we were treated to an authentic Chilean bbq where the food and wines were plenty. The other guides and cook at the old ski refuge were so kind and friendly. To finish the evening, we were treated to star gazing where Juan Francisco pointed out the planets and constellations. Thank you Juan Francisco, Jaime, Alexandra, Ulysses, and Sebastian for this amazing day.

5.0 A must do! Hot springs and bbq are phenomenal!!

Southmansion, March 2026

Fantastic!! While the drive out of the city is quite long, we easily forgot about that as we walked around the waterfall, enjoyed the hot springs and had the most wonderful bbq under the stars!!! Jaime was a perfect guide. The food was over the top great and the wine and pisco was free flowing. Great star gazing after dinner! Highly recommend!!

5.0 This tour was amazing! ...

Francis_F, March 2026

This tour was amazing! The sights the scenery and the people were unforgettable. Would highly recommend. Jaime was an awesome guide. The BBQ was worth it alone. The hot springs were so relaxing. The carpool club/karaoke on the way home was the icing on the cake. Great times!

5.0 Get out of town

Vance_V, March 2026

A fantastic experience visiting the valley the Hot Springs were invigorating and views spectacular. The night time BBQ was great quality and the star gazing a special experience.

5.0 Book this one.

Reecia_C, February 2026

From the adventure getting there, the waterfall, hot springs, and BBQ the guides, we had Sebastian, did everything to make it a special night.

5.0 Hot pools & Staring gazing experience.

Ramon_R, February 2026

It’s a long ride out to the springs & rough roads are to be expected. Bring a puffer jacket it gets cold on the mountain in the evening. Also bring a towel & flip flops to move around the rocky springs bath pools. It was a very nice rustic trip overall , the food, wine, star gazing show by the staff was amazing. Not your typical sterile trip, be prepared to mingle it makes the experience better.

5.0 Not For Tourists

RobertProwant, February 2026

As we travel the world, we are often reminded that there are two types of visitors - tourists and travelers. This is an off the beaten path tour that is designed for travelers. Tourists should avoid this tour as you have to tough it just a little bit. Logistics were excellent and the tour kept to a pretty tight timeline. Your last stop before the barbecue is for a sunset view of the mountains so timing was important. Walking to most of the venues required the ability to walk over tough terrain so good mobility is required. The hot springs area has limited facilities with separate shower/changing area and bathrooms. Nothing special but more than adequate. There are no lockers available but the guides do watch over your things. A large backpack works great and can be stored in the back of the vehicle while in transit. Do make sure that you bring your own towel and water sandals that can go into the pools are very nice. The pools are very clean but do have a layer of silt in them. There are five pools of varying temperatures and size. The drive to the hot springs is via paved road for most of the way until you get to an active gypsum mine. From there you travel on windy and bumpy mining roads. Hold on to your teeth! The location of the barbecue is on the way back to town and is an excellent setting. It was a large elevated deck with plenty of seating and a steel fire pit. Upon arrival there are many appetizers waiting for you along with wine, beer, juices and water. As much as anything, this is a social period. There were three groups of 6 during our outing and we mixed with the other groups and made new friends. Food from the barbecue flowed throughout the evening with grilled vegetables, sausages and beef. All was excellent and fast enough to keep you fed but not interrupting your social time. Many guests did not dress appropriately for an evening in the mountains. While throw blankets were available, those in shorts or without jackets got pretty cold and huddled to the fire. Being cold is never fun. As the night sky darkened and the stars came out, the lights were turned off. To take pictures you need to turn of the flash, set the camera for long exposure night shots. The guides help you with this setup on your phones. I have never tried to take night pictures with my Cannon Camera and struggled with it. Wish that I knew to learn how to use the night features in advance. At the barbecue, the wine and beer flows freely and unfortunately some guests over imbibed in drink. On the drive back to the city, we endured two young ladies that had drank way too much, but there you go. Highly recommend this adventure. We are in our 70s.

5.0 Wonderful experience!

Sam_F, February 2026

The tour was so cool. The driver picked us up from our hotel in the afternoon and they take you through the Maipo valley. The first two stops were fine. First is at an interesting chocolate/gelato/coffee shop in one of the small towns and then a waterfall off the side of the road. The next stop is to the hot springs which is far up a rough road that gets you pretty high up in the Andes. It’s a beautiful view with 7 pools to tryout out ranging in temperatures. There are changing rooms available and showers, albeit a little cold. I would have traded a little more time at the hot springs for not going to the waterfall. Then you head to a viewpoint for the sunset which was pretty. Then you head to where the BBQ is which is at a Refugio. Really pretty spot. Food was great and came out more as snacks than a plated meal. I would recommend trying to book it on a new moon to maximize the stargazing potential. The guides (ours was Jaime) and chefs are very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Would highly recommend!

4.0 Great experience - buy what you needs beforehand!

TBran206, February 2026

Great experience heading into the mountains - about two hours from Santiago. Several interesting stops along the way to break it up (waterfall, “chocolate” house, hot springs.) The dinner at the end was around 19:00. At 20:30 they turned off the lights and there was an absolute remarkable presentation of the southern hemisphere stars. It was the best. Our guide Francisco was fabulous. However, the other four guests in my group tainted the experience. They made Francisco stop along the way at a Walmart so they could get distilled water - a 45 minute side journey. We had to make another personal stop for them so they could buy fruit as dinner was served late. (No pre-planning on their part or taking into consideration how their side trips would affect the other passenger/me. (They also took my towel- ugh!) My recommendation is to travel with people you know or be strong and stand up for yourself as a solo traveler. (Marnie, BJ, Suki and Sing from San Francisco - you suck!)

5.0 This was an absolute...

laura_b, February 2026

This was an absolute blast! Francisco gave us a hell of a ride through the mountains. The hot springs were amazing, the views, the food, the stargazing all incredible: 10/10 would recommend.

5.0 Incredible experience

David_H, February 2026

From start to finish, it was incredible. And the lights at the end??? Breathtaking… Loved our guide Francisco, very knowledgeable and added an extra layer of depth to the entire experience. Definitely and must do while in Santiago!

5.0 Juan our guide was fantastic and the hot springs and chilli an bbq was amazing .can highly recommend this tour .

jeanette m, February 2026

Highly recommend Juan our tour guide. He was so much fun and very informative . We loved the hot spring and chilli an bbq. And the red wine.

5.0 Fantastic tour - absolutely do😊

Marion_W, February 2026

This was one of the most beautiful tours I have done so far. First we started comfortably to the chocolate house with super delicious ice cream, then we visited the Asado waterfall. And then it went deeper and deeper into the cordillera. So impressive to drive in a 4x4 car over stock and stone through the Andes! Up to the border with Argentina and the view of the San José volcano with almost 6,000 m altitude. There we could bathe in the hot, slightly sulphurous springs that the volcano feeds with heat. Finally, there was a barbecue, high up with an incredible view of the starry sky. Many thanks to the crew and the friendly fellow travellers for this great experience! I can fully recommend this tour. Be sure to do it!

5.0 Excursion into the Andes Mountains, Hot Spring and Chilean BBQ

Janelle_G, February 2026

Francisco our guide picked us up at our hotel and our trip began... After picking up 3 more guests, our Dodge Durango headed out of the city. After about an hour and a half scenic drive, we stopped at a Chocolate factory with the cutest architecture! Bought some ice cream and we got back on the road. After stopping at a few scenic lookoffs and waterfall, we left the paved road and continued on a very bumpy gravel road for the next stop at the Hot Springs in the mountains. With the sun just setting over the mountain top, it gave us a spectacular view while soaking in the natural volcanic hot spring pools... each pool a different temperature. Next we got back in our Durango 4x4 for the trip to a sunset BBQ. This location on the mountainside was an outdoor terrace on the property of a German Lodge built in 1932. What a nice way to end the day with a glass of Chilean red wine, some local appetizers along with BBQ beef and other delicasies cooked on the grill. To finish the evening off before our ride back to the hotel, Francisco turned off all the lights and gave us a very informative talk using a laser pointer to trace out the glorious star constellations above us in the Southern Hemisphere. The drive home was quiet as most of us had a few naps, arriving back at the hotel around 1:30am. Thanks to all the guides and especially our very informative driver Francisco... Cheers!

5.0 Unforgettable experience

Victoria R, February 2026

Amazing walk, with lots of stops to take pictures in amazing places. It was all thought out to the smallest detail, as if to return from the baths and be waiting for us in the middle of the mountain with a roast, and close the night enjoying the stars. Thank you Juan Francisco for this unforgettable experience!!

5.0 Wow

Elizabeth_M, February 2026

Great guides, great people, beautiful experience! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!

5.0 Great tour with Francisco to the Hot Springs

Helen_W, February 2026

This was a full on afternoon and evening. Francisco was a brilliant host. We drive up to the chocolate house with Francisco giving us information about what we were passing. Rick formation, names of villages, bits of history and information on flora and fauna. The journey is an experience in itself. Brides veil waterfalls viewed and then to the hot springs. It was very quiet when we were there. Then it was a little way down the off road track to a sunset view point and then onto the BBQ. Delicious and welcome. We did not go home hungry.

5.0 Amazing Tour with Guide Francisco

Wai Hou S, February 2026

One day before the tour, the company invited all participants to join a WhatsApp group and shared a packing list. The day before pickup, Francisco shared the exact locations and estimated pickup times for each hotel. After picking everyone up, we headed to the mountain, stopping first at a gas station for snacks. Then we visited a beautifully designed chocolate house to get coffee or ice cream and use the restroom. Next, we stopped at a waterfall to take pictures. Our main destination was the hot springs, which had bathrooms, changing rooms, and several pools—cooler at the lower level and warmer at the higher pools. Francisco didn’t soak in the pools with us but was very helpful, taking photos for everyone at this stunning natural spot. After the hot springs, we visited a viewpoint to watch the sunset over the mountains and rocks, capturing more photos. The final stop was a barbecue. The location is charming, nestled in the mountains with a lodge. A short five-minute walk uphill brought us to a wood platform with an outdoor barbecue setup. The chef served fruits, a variety of alcohols including red and white wine, beer, and Pisco Sour, followed by mushroom, pork, sausage, and beef. After dinner, the lights were turned off, and Francisco used a green laser to point out stars. Before leaving, we made a final stop at the lodge restroom and museum, and Francisco safely dropped us back at our hotels.

3.0 Great views, a long day....

Elaine_T, February 2026

Great views, a long day. Could think about adjusting the start time to coincide with the longer lighter evenings. By the time we finished the hot springs the light was faded so taking photos wasn’t the best. Or even make some stops at view points while the light is good to take decent photos

5.0 A scenic, educational and inviting experience in the Andes!

Lucia_M, January 2026

Fransisco was an amazing and accommodating guide. Made sure we were all comfortable on the trip out to San Jose de Maipo and told us a lot about Santiago, the Andes and surrounding Chilean areas. The stops: waterfall, thermal pools, evening asado + fire were all incredible! highly recommend this tour.

5.0 Shot springs experience in the Andes

Tracey_W, January 2026

Great tour! We are a family of 5 adults and had an amazing day out. The hot springs were wonderful, we sat in the spa surrounded by the Andes mountains. The waterfall was fun and the tour ended with a Chilean bbq under the stars. Lola our tour guide was very informative, sufficient toilet stops along the way. We had a very memorable time!
