5.0 Worth the Drive

Briana_C, May 2024

We were skeptical for this since we were staying in Lima and it would take 4 hours each way but it was so worth it. Our guide José Carlos was so kind and great at explaining the histories of each of the areas we drove through. First stop was Tacama Vineyard which was phenomenal. A nice little tour with a fun wine and pisco tasting. We decided to have lunch there because of the beautiful scenery and got lucky with an authentic horse show. After, we went to Huacacchina to see the oasis. José Carlos walked us around explaining the myth of the oasis and the story of the mermaid which was very insightful. After we went to the dune buggies which was an absolute blast, i wish i could Do that everyday it was that fun. Sand boarding was a great way to end the experience, my wife still has sand everywhere from it LOL! Great experience and thank you to José Carlos and Mr. Hugo(our driver) for an amazing day!

5.0 Would 100% recommend.

388panosm, March 2024

It was an extraordinary experience, which also felt very safe. Our driver, Carlos was very friendly and responsible making the experience easy and smooth. We started with the Tacama vineyard where we tasted wine and pisco, had the tour to the wine making processes, great lunch and also watched a horse show. Afterwards we took the car to the oasis and did the Sandhills and Sand-boarding experience. It was really awesome. I would definitely recommend this service.

1.0 WORST TOUR EVER! DO NOT GET FOOLED

Zachary_R, March 2024

WORST TOUR EVER! Was expecting a group tour, but turned out some guy in a hoopty picked my family and I and turned what was supposed to be a 4 hour drive to Tacama Winery into a 5 hour drive, because he took 2 wrong detours, stopped for gas, stopped for a snack, stopped for water and then stopped and picked up some random woman and her child (they were not related) and dropped them off, before finally dropping us off. He told us he would be in the parking lot after our tour so we left our car seat with him. When we finished, I looked at my phone to see that he send me a message that he was gone and was sending another driver. Naturally I was very upset, because he did not provide any details of who this new driver would be and had my baby's car seat. Mind you, we are only HALF way through the tour, this is the Winery and Huacachina Tour. I text him telling him to come back, with no reply so I reach out to the tour operator, again no reply, finally I reach back out to Viator. After an hour of trying to track the driver down and the and the company I hire another driver to take us back and tell Viator they are not only responsible for the refund of this trip, but my baby's car seat. Before we leave the driver shows up and is yelling at me !!! We get into a screaming match at the vineyard before he tosses my baby's car seat out of his car and leaves. This would have been a 0 stars, but I dont think Viator allows 0 stars. On a positive note, shout out to the manager at the Tacama Vinery who was SOOOOO Helpful and SOOOO nice helping us find another taxi driver. Tacama was a great experience and our driver back to Lima was also awesome. Viator should not allow companies like this to offer tours.

3.0 Fun buggy tour

Pennay03, November 2023

The Buggy tour was fun and the staff were friendly. I would not book with Travel Adventures Peru (TAP) anymore. We did not an itinerary and they would not return any phone calls or texts when we asked questions. We were picked up by random Peruvians who could not communicate with us in English (after TAP said that they would have someone who could speak English) so we just had to trust that they were taking us where we were supposed to go. We didn't know how long anything was going to take, how long he drive would be. Our driver was falling asleep on the way and we felt so uncomfortable that we said we needed a restroom break just so that we he could wake up for the rest of the drive. He was nice but we were still nervous and tried to contact TAP but they never answered. I would do the buggy tours again but with I recommend Peru Hop. They were VERY nice organized. Could do without Tacama vineyard, but Nietto was fun.

2.0 Do not take this tour!

Pallavi_K, July 2023

Our guide who picked us up from our hotel went with people who took the Nazca lines tour so we were left without a guide!! We were dropped off at the winery where we were charged 45 soles (which i was told will be refunded to me but nothing has been done about it yet!), also the buggy ride driver refused to take us above the sand dune from where the oasis view is visible!! imagine going to Huacachina and not getting view of the oasis!! Luckily my husband and i still had few minutes before sunset so we ran up the sand dune after the buggy ride and managed to get a view of the oasis , however my mom could not climb up and missed it!! Giving 2 stars cause pick up was in time, and we were dropped at the winery first, picked from there and then dropped to the sand dunes - BUT WOULD NOT RECOMMEND - whats the point of booking this if there is no guide with you!! also being charged extra at the winery which is not mentioned here in the viator website!! total scam!

We did the tour with Jose, he was a great guide and kept us entertained all the time with the history of the places we visited. We had an incredible time and hope to return to Huacachina with the whole family.

5.0 Amazing experience and beautiful area

thejeffy, October 2022

The tour was very organized, punctual and the guide very kind and friendly. Ica surprised us with a beautiful landscape and places as beautiful as Huacachina that seems to be taken from a movie.

5.0 The tour was fantastic

A8907YQarianac, October 2022

Thanks to this tour I had an excellent day and was able to learn a little more about Peru. The Ica region is a wonderful place that has many attractive places such as Paracas and Huacachina. This time I visited Huacachina and I loved it, I'm sure there will be another opportunity to stay more days in this beautiful city.

5.0 A perfect day!

rom_nc223, September 2022

This was one of the most beautiful tourist activities we did during our stay in Peru. Ica was the perfect place to escape the cold of Lima and have fun in the Huacachina desert and of course enjoy wine and pisco in the beautiful Tacama vineyard.

5.0 Awesome full day in Tacama and Huacachina

L1491RUeduardot, August 2022

This was an awesome tour which started from Lima. Our guide Jose was great at explaining every interesting fact. Tacama, which is the oldest vineyard in South America, is located 15 minutes from the city center. This vineyard produces some of the best wines of Peru and has a great restaurant which offers tasty Peruvian dishes. In the other hand, Huacachina is where the huge dunes are. We had a lot of fun riding a 4WD dune buggy for 2 hours and using the boards to slide on the sand. We recommend booking this tour.

5.0 A great day

M3560XUpedros, June 2022

A lot of fun and the best way to spend a day in Lima, the driver and tour guide were amazing, excellent trip and lovely views in the desert and vineyards. The food was delicious and Alejandro (the tour guide) gave us a lot of information about the places.

5.0 A perfect day trip from Lima

stephanyc458, June 2022

We only had one more day before flying home and wanted to get out of Lima to explore a bit more. This trip let us have an amazing day. We went from Lima to Tacama vineyard, it took around 4 hours to get there but the landscape was beautiful and our tour guide Jose shared a lot of interesting information. Tacama is the oldest vineyard in south America and that is one of the facts that attracted us. We did a tasting tour followed but a delicious lunch. After the vineyard we went to Huacachina which is definitely a must do in Peru. Huacachina is an oasis surrounded by palm trees exactly like in the desert movies. Our tour included a dune buggy tour through Huacachina’s desert which ended up with a great view of the sunset. The way back to Lima felt pretty fast since we were all tired and felt sleep. We honestly recommend doing this trip and we thanks this company and Jose for making our day.

5.0 Lot of fun!

acJ2746QN, June 2022

Amazing experience and a lot of fun, we really enjoyed the tour, the sunset and the guides. José is an incredibly person, kind and good guide. You learn a lot about history in the vineyards and in Huacachina the ride is very fun, José was always taking care of our safety. Hope you can enjoy this experience as us.

5.0 Great trip to Tacama and Huacachina

E9223XMkevinm, April 2022

Excellent trip to Tacama and Huacachina. We had a blast visiting the oldest vineyard of southamerica. The Restaurant in Tacama is a perfect place for lunch and we had enough time to have lunch there. In Huacachina we really enjoyed the dune buggy tour, it was a lot of fun and we could watch the sunset at the end. This activity is a 10/10.

3.0 Not what we expected

Kimberly Plourd... E, December 2021

This was the last day of our holiday trip to Peru and we were excited to find something to do on Christmas Eve before heading home. The vineyard and sand dunes were much further away from Lima than we expected. Most of the other tours we did were 1.5 to 3 hour commutes each way. This one was 5 hours to get there and just over 4 to get back, so it was a long drive. Unfortunately after riding 5 hours to get there, the winery advertised was closed for the holiday. We were really surprised they had not verified their hours before driving us 5 hours out there. Our guide did find an alternate "winery" to visit but definitely was not the experience we had read about of visiting the oldest Vineyard in South America. We then went to do the dune buggy and sandboarding, which the kids did enjoy and was a neat experience. The general consensus from our family was it was okay and our guide was nice, but we would not have spent this amount of time or money to do this if we would have known, how much of the time we would be in car and that the winery would be closed.

Response from Host, March 2022

Dear Kimberly, we apologize for not having met your expectations. The only way we had to verify if the vineyard was open was the website which is all the time updated but this time it failed. We hope you had a good experience in Peru in general and wish you and your family the best :)

5.0 Best day in Lima!

From the vineyards to the oasis, great experience! It was really funny, we tasted wines and also explore the small town, then we went to Huacachina, the funniest part! The oasis is magical, the drivers very kind and polite, the sunset is the most beautiful thing i ever seen in my life! recommended!

5.0 Great day!

katiuska23, February 2020

Great experience! After hiking in the Colca Canyon, it was time to go back to Lima, we decided not to stay all the time in the city, so we took the tour. They picked us up early in the morning from our Hotel, the driver was kind, i had an accident back in Atlanta so sometimes I'm nervous, but he drove us safely to the vineyards and he was talking all the time to me so I can feel relaxed (thank you so much sir!), then we enjoyed Tacama and El catador, my parents really loved the wine! Then it was time for the Oasis! Lot of fun sandboarding! The view is beautiful, the sunset is something to love and remember, at night we decided to stay in Huacachina so they gave us some recommendations and advices! Thank you for everything guys! Highly recommended!

5.0 It was fascinating!

603marcoantonioc, February 2020

We left Lima very early, at noon we arrived in Huacachina and made the buggy tour, it was really an exciting adventure, it is exciting to slide through the dunes and not to mention the sensation of speed and adrenaline, really something unforgettable!

5.0 For Adrenaline Lovers!

percyedgardoh, February 2020

The ride through the dunes was one of the best experiences I had during my whole trip. My friends and I had a lot of fun driving through the huge dunes that make you feel tiny in the immense desert but also makes you feel alive! We took some great pictures of the desert. We really wish we can come back soon.

5.0 Excellent day tour from Lima

J152GCsusanaf, February 2020

We left from Lima pretty early and arrived at Tacama, a gorgeous vineyard with lots of history and very good wine and pisco. We had lunch at Tacama's restaurant and then went to Huacachina to do the dune buggy tour and the true is that it is an incredible experience full of adrenaline, it feels like going on a roller coaster. 5 stars!

5.0 Full day tour to Huacachina

MChBayona, February 2020

This was one of the best tours we took during our Peruvian trip. We learned a lot of history, has a lot of fun and travel pretty comfortable in the minivan. Would honestly recommend this service!

5.0 Best tour ever!

585danitzav, February 2020

Will never forget this awesome tour to Huacachina. Our first stop was Tacama, a famous vineyard known for the production of very good wine and some of the best varieties of Pisco. We were so lucky to do this tour on Saturday because a horse show was offered for free. The second stop was Huacachina desert which has a gorgeous oasis. Once in Huacachina we did a dunebuggy Tour and it was very exciting. Would highly recommend this day tour from Lima.
