We had an amazing experience with Simoon Tours! From the very beginning, Iva was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. She made the entire booking process easy and was always willing to answer our questions. Our guide, Sebas, was absolutely wonderful. He was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire tour. Since we were the only reservation for the day, the tour became a private experience, which made it even more special. Sebas took his time, shared information about the area, helped us with photos, and made sure my 9-year-old son enjoyed every moment. The ATV tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Guatemala. The views were spectacular, and the service exceeded our expectations. Thank you, Iva and Sebas, for making this such a memorable experience. Really fun way to see the villages on that side of the lake. ATVs were very safe and comfortable. In addition to the leader, there is a motorcycle that runs ahead to stop traffic as needed. This is mostly on city streets and the open road between villages. The chocolate, ceramic and weaving stops were nice - educational. I would say the only downside was there was considerable lingering at each stop and at a couple they were really selling, and wouldn’t always leave you alone. If each stop would’ve been about 15 minutes shorter, in my opinion, it would’ve been better.

It was so much fun! Getting to ride atvs up and down a winding mountain side into smaller towns of Guatemala was awesome. Out Guid Nemi was very knowledgeable and spoke in English extremely will and with him being our guid we (my wife and I) felt extremely comfortable we didn’t feel rushed or felt uncomfortable. I had a super fun tour with Pedro as my guide! I was lucky that on the tour was myself and one other person, so Pedro took his time explaining everything and even took us to a few extra spots for excellent views. (He was an excellent photographer for us!) Pedro was attentive making sure we were safe and that we understood how to operate the ATVs. He was super knowledgeable. He often helped the workshoppers translate and communicate with us. You can tell he loves his job and thus, helped me love Atitlán even more. It was my first time riding an ATV so beginners are welcome to Simoon Tours. Santa Catarina Palopó and San Antonio Palopó felt less touristy than the other pueblos around the lake, making them feel more quaint and less commercialized. Being with a guide made navigating them much easier. You get to avoid the crowds and see more locals.

Two reasons why I gave this a four star. In the description, it said we were going to go on a coffee tour taste coffee, see how the process is made, etc. that never happened. We stopped by a very small coffee shop to buy coffee. Also, this tour was supposed to be four hours and we got back in less than three. However, our guide was great and it was fun to visit to Mayan villages.

5.0 Incredible Tour - Even Better Tour Guide in Nemy

This was an absolutely incredible tour that we would recommend to anyone. Riding the ATVs is so much fun, and the stops along the way were exactly what we were looking for. Our tour had five people on it including us, which we felt was perfect. Our tour guide is what really perfected the tour for us though. His name is Nemy and he is an incredibly nice and knowledgeable guy with a huge heart. He took good care of us, took the time to get to know us a bit, never rushed us, and gave us such interesting information at each stop. We stopped at a local coffee spot with local coffee beans, a traditional textiles location where we got to spin some cotton and learn about all the dies and textile making process from some locals with Mayan heritage, and a traditional ceramics shop where we got to see the various steps of the ceramic making process. We found some of our favorite souvenirs on this tour as well at these stops. We feel incredibly lucky to have found this tour and to have had Nemy as our tour guide in particular, and we would recommend the tour company and Nemy to anyone. Thanks again Nemy!

This tour was great! Of course riding the arc was so much fun but what really made it an amazing experience was our guide and the stops we made. We got to visit places we otherwise probably would not have found and learned so much along the way. Two important things you should know right off the bat: 1. This was the best experience we had in Guatemala. 2. We are not ATV people. We are quiet nature people, hiking, snowshoeing, etc But, we read so may positive reviews, we decided to swallow our ATV judgement and do it. It was so, so fun, thrilling, interesting and SO worth the price. Our guide was Pedro and he was safe, knowledgeable and funny. We ranged in age from 18-66 and only one of us had had ATV experience. Yet everyone felt safe and in control. Don’t hesitate. Book this and, if you are really lucky, Pedro will accompany you.

If you’re anywhere near Lake Atitlán and want real adventure, book with Simoon Rentals. I had never been on an ATV before. Zero experience. I definitely started off “how do I do this?” and within minutes I was confidently cruising. My guide, Nemi, was patient, clear, calm in the best way, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. That energy makes a huge difference. The tour starts in Panajachel and climbs into the mountains toward San Antonio Palopó and surrounding villages. You’re riding high above the lake on winding mountain roads with unreal views. This is the highlands — terrain, elevation, perspective. Not just a spin around town. And it’s not only about the ride. We stopped at a cacao workshop, visited a traditional Mayan pottery studio, and watched cotton being spun and naturally dyed with plants. The craftsmanship and Mayan influence woven into daily Guatemalan life was one of the best parts of the day. Adventure with depth. Mountain air. Culture. Views for days. Tip your guide.
