My family chose Victor Bodden Tours after seeing multiple recommendations on YouTube, and it turned out to be a very good decision. Francisco was our driver, and we were extremely happy with him. We were a party of five, consisting of two adults and three teenagers. We only listed the monkey/sloth sanctuary, the rum and chocolate factories, and West Bay on our "to do" list. Francisco confirmed those plans with us from the beginning. We didn't really know what else there was to see, but he made sure to drive us around the island and teach us about the local economy, the people, and the history. Oddly enough, that became my favorite part of the visit. First, the island is beautiful. The first thing I noticed from the deck of the ship was the mountainous terrain, lush greenery, and beautiful homes overlooking the water. It made for a great first impression. Once Francisco started driving and sharing information about the island, however, we got to see a very different side of life than the million-dollar homes on the hillsides. What I learned is that Roatán has a proud history and culture, and its people have adapted to the growth of tourism and foreign investment. Francisco told us about a fishing tournament that celebrates independence, pointed out local women who prepare large amounts of food and sell it under roadside canopies, and explained how tourism has changed employment opportunities on the island. He told us that before tourism expanded, he worked on a boat. Today, he is able to make a living driving tours and still be home with his family every night. I asked him several questions about the local economy and culture, which he kindly answered. He didn't give me canned answers. I felt like what he told me came from the heart. I wanted to hear both the good and the bad, and he was honest. At every stop, Francisco got out and walked us to the location. That included the chocolate factory, rum factory, and West Bay. We appreciated not being dropped off and left to figure things out on our own. The monkey and sloth sanctuary at the Bodden facility was a relatively quick stop, but it was very enjoyable. The monkeys were definitely the highlight for me. The chocolate shop was another quick visit, but we made sure to buy several bars because they were excellent and we wanted to support the local business. We also picked up some rum cakes during our stop at the rum factory. West Bay was incredible. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we had to leave about an hour and a half earlier than planned because the kids got too hot. I sent Francisco a WhatsApp message, apologized for the change of plans, and asked if he could pick us up whenever he was available. He arrived within about 15 minutes. I was very grateful for the flexibility, and he never once complained about the inconvenience. When we visit Roatán again, and we will, we will use Victor Bodden Tours and hopefully have Francisco as our driver. I hope my tip reflected how much we appreciated him. He was professional, personable, nice, knowledgeable, and someone I felt completely comfortable talking to throughout the day.

Signed up for this excursion while in Roatan for our cruise. I was really interested in seeing the sloths and monkeys up close and my husband wanted to try ziplining. It was so hot but had a good time. The star of the show was Zethro as he gave us a private tour to wherever we wanted to go and brought us to many areas for pictures. We asked him to bring us somewhere for lunch where local food is served and had a great lunch.

Thoroughly enjoyed this customizable tour - our driver was friendly and very knowledgeable. We took a scenic drive around the island and learned a lot about the history and people of Roatan. We visited the Mayak Chocolate store and the sloth and monkey sanctuary, both were amazing! Communication and coordination prior to the tour via WhatsApp was great, they were responsive and helpful.

The kiosk to meet was super easy to find and thankfully inside the port. We got Jerry as a driver for our party of 8 and he was the absolute best. He was very educational, took us on a tour of the city and everywhere that we wanted to go plus he suggested other areas and took us to a local restaurant for lunch. He never rushed us and the price was way more affordable than other tours that I had inquired about. This was our best port day thanks to Victor Bodden and Jerry!

We were a group of 4 & arrived at the meeting point about 30 minutes early and found our guide Jerry was already there waiting for us. We had a basic itinerary planned out and after a few minor tweaks (based on Jerry’s advise) headed off. Jerry was awesome! Very knowledgeable and answered any/all questions we had as we drove around the island to the spots we wanted to see. We did a complete loop of the island. Went snorkelling and did rum/rum cake tasting on the west side, shopping & chocolate tasting on north side and hilight of the day was definitely visiting the sloths & interacting with the monkeys at AJ’s Sanctuary on the south side. Our day started around 8:30 and got back to the ship around 2:30. Terrific day with our awesome guide Jerry!

We booked this as an independent excursion and could not have been happier with the choice. Everything was via email. Super quick response. From the port, a quick $2 cab ride gets you to the independent tour area where guides are easy to find. We ended up with Alex, and he was genuinely one of the best parts of the trip. He took his time, knew his stuff, and went above and beyond to find authentic local honey -not the mass-produced souvenir stuff. It’s those little details that separate a good tour guide from a great one. 10 out of 10, and we’d book with him again without a second thought.

Excellent option for a customizable tour in Roatan! We took a pre-arranged tour a few years ago, which hit the big tourist spots. This, however, was a far better tour that allowed us to see the less-touristy areas of the island and gain a better knowledge of the true culture in this amazing place. Our tour guide, Big Ald, was incredible - very informative and easy to understand as he showed us around the island and took us to one of the best beaches we've ever seen (yes, better than West Bay with none of the high-pressure sales people pestering us). Can't say enough positive things about this experience! Highly recommend!

Henry was a fantastic guide. We took the private tour with 8 of us and we're surprised with how much we got in. The zip lining was some of the best we had done. Then we got to see sloths, monkeys and macaw. Be careful the macaw talons are a little sharp. From there we tried chocolate and rum. We finished up with some of the boys snorkeling while he then dropped the rest back at the ship . Thank you for the great memories

⭐️⭐️⭐️ We recently did a Victor Bodden tour with Angel as our driver, and overall, the experience was just okay. The highlight of the day was definitely the animals—they were a really fun and memorable part of the trip. That said, we were surprised (and a bit disappointed) that guests were still allowed to hold the sloths, despite recent changes in the law meant to reduce stress on the animals. One thing to note: the website made it seem like we could fully customize our itinerary and choose the order of stops. We wanted to visit the animals first while it was still cool, but when we asked to go to the cameo factory next (which was actually very cool and highly recommend!), our driver expressed frustration about the distance and “wasting gas.” He suggested going to the beach instead, and although we preferred to save that for last, we felt a bit reprimanded before he eventually agreed. It made things a little uncomfortable. Lunch was a positive—my son wanted to try iguana (a local specialty), and Angel was able to make that happen, which we appreciated. 👍 West Bay Beach was beautiful, but be aware: it requires an additional day pass (we weren’t told ahead of time). If you go with the $25 option, expect a very crowded beach with no umbrellas or shade. Unfortunately, we were even asked to give up our chairs by another tour guide saving them for his group—which was frustrating. I wish our driver had advocated for us in that moment. 👎🏼 Overall, the tour had some nice moments, but clearer expectations and a more guest-focused experience would have made a big difference.

Since my very first cruise in 2010 where Victor’s own mom collected the $2 per person to visit the monkeys, I have stuck with Victor Bodden Tours every visit to Roatan. Victor still works hard every day, he was out by the taxis helping get people into the right vehicles. And yet, he’s an incredibly successful entrepreneur because he has stuck with quality at an affordable and family friendly price. His operation has grown tremendously and it’s made it even better every time. Our driver was perfect and made sure we were well taken care of. The $12 per person for the iguana sanctuary is well worth it to get up close and personal with so many of these cool creatures. ATVs and ZipLines were the best at Victors place and all of our family (mom, dad, 15, 12 and 10) had the best times. The highlight as always was when Kenny walked us around the animal sanctuary and we got a chance to interact with parrots, monkeys and sloths who you can tell are loved and well taken care of. Don’t hesitate to book with Victor, you’ll only thank me later, I’m on booking 10 and I know it won’t be our last. Thanks Victor to you and your whole team!

4.0 Great Tour, Payment Hassle

We had a lovely, quick private tour at Roatan with our Victor Bodden guides, with a couple of caveats. Our wonderful guides, Luis and Dixie, were super friendly and informative, and showed us beautiful sights of the central island and an amazing boat ride through the mangroves. The issue - not our guides' fault - was time. Our NCL ship was only in for about six hours, and we got caught in road construction and traffic returning to the port at Coxen Hole. The snag then was paying for the trip: Victor Bodden doesn't take prepayment, and we had planned to pay by credit card. What we didn't know was that they will *not* accept credit cards at the port, by phone, online or through any payment apps. You have to take the card to their office, which is an additional hour away, there and back. That wasn't happening. We tried to get cash from a local ATM but our card wouldn't work. Ultimately I had to sprint from the port to the ship's casino to get cash, sprint back out of the port to pay our driver, and then run back aboard with minutes to spare. It's disappointing that a leading tour company can't accommodate credit cards better than that. We highly recommend their guides - just carry lots of cash for your tour, activities, snacks, tips, everything, because you'll need it. And if your stay in port is short, be really mindful of Roatan traffic.

Best day of our trip! We had an absolutely amazing day with Victor Bodden tours! Our guide was wonderful - knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We were able to customize our tour. We loved our visit to see the monkeys, sloths, and birds. There were 6 of us and 2 wanted to go snorkeling. They used K Adventure Tours for the snorkeling and I would highly recommend them as well. From the time I booked, Victor Bodden tours was responsive and provided clear information on how to meet up with them from our cruise port. We visited Roatan on the Majestic Princess on March 18th, and instead of booking a standard cruise excursion, we chose to explore the island with Victor Bodden Tours—and it was one of the best decisions we made. The reviews initially drew us in, but the flexibility, freedom, and competitive pricing truly set them apart. We were greeted right on time by our guide, Lenny, who was kind, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable. He thoughtfully planned our day to ensure we made the most of our time on the island. A huge bonus for our family was that Lenny is fully bilingual, which made the experience even more enjoyable and comfortable for my husband. Throughout the day, we explored several highlights of Roatan, including an iguana park, a local brewery, a nature park, and even had the chance to ride ATVs. Every stop felt well-paced and tailored to our interests. There truly aren’t enough words to describe what an amazing experience we had. Lenny made such an impression on our family—our children absolutely adored him and were genuinely sad to say goodbye at the end of the day. I have to go to Roatan on a cruise so for a day tour I chose them and I was delighted, my family the same. Our guide was MARLENI, very friendly, an excellent attitude always, we told her what we were looking for and she offered us the best places, she took us to beautiful landscapes for photographs and at all times supported us with any doubts, we went to the animal sanctuary, the chocolate factory, a beach club and to buy some souvenirs, and between the journey she told us about the place and took us to take photographs in beautiful places. Delighted with her and her service, I should add that she is excellent driver and the units were spotless. Price 10 out of 10.

We loved having our own car and a custom schedule, which allowed us to enjoy the Sloth and Monkey Sanctuary and a glass bottom boat tour she suggested. We also explored the beautiful West Bay beaches and West End Village before enjoying a delicious lunch. We had the best time during our private tour with our guide Said. It was our first cruise and we were hesitant to book an excursion outside of the cruise line. We are so happy we went with Victor Bodden tours. Said was so knowledgeable about the island, took us wherever we wanted, and had the perfect suggestions that he felt would work for our family. We did some sight seeing, monkeys/sloths, chocolate and rum factory, lunch break and ended with a beach break. We were back on the ship with plenty of time and we were never worried about being late back to the port. We can’t wait to go back to Roatan and would definitely recommend Victor Bodden private tours to anyone interested

Pre-cruise, I searched for a custom tour company and ended up picking Bodden Tours for our group of 8. We were paired with Denry as a guide. Denry was extraordinary. Everything from A to Z was personalized and you could feel be cared to make our time wonderful. Denry is very knowledgeable about the island; any question we threw his way has an answer. We first started at the Bodden sanctuary. We did the ATV ride and visited the sanctuary. The ATV ride was fun but on the expensive side. The sanctuary was a great addition/adder; pictures with the sloths, Monkeys and parrots turned up amazing. After the ATV/Sanctuary, Denry took us to a small town not far. We had lunch and the walked on the beach. Cute cozy way to end the visit. He then brought us back to our ship with plenty of time to shop at the port. The entire tour is a nice way to visit the island and fill 4-5 hours but the highlight was Denry's stellar attitude & niceness. Thank you Denry

Good tour with Norma today, lovely island and with 4 cruise ships in quite busy at times. We much preferred West End, there was more to see and do and the beach was quiet. We personally found west bay to be too loud, crowded and snorkling poor in comparison.

We had the best experience with Victor Boden private tour and our tour guide Denry Eustscio Hudson! He was amazing waiting for us, bringing us to the places we wanted to go and finding a place to eat! We did about everything! All the excursion experiences were so much fun and we felt safe with them all! We had adults down to a 5 year old and all were able to enjoy ! The only thing we were surprised by was the fees added to our lunch bill for both tax and service that were not the tip. We ended up with a $100 in taxes and service fees/tips. Do the research on where to eat ahead and what the fees are so you aren’t surprised! We would definitely recommend and use them again! It was by far our favorite cruise excursion! Also bring lots of cash, cc fees are even more fees and it was definitely an expensive day!

Terrible! Our first trop to Roatan. We paid for a private taxi/tour for the day. When we got in the car, the driver asked where to.... we explained we wanted to see the highlights, a little history... he adked again WHERE TO, this conversation went on 4 times. We asked questions...is that a school, what is the islands history, industry. Every answer was yes/no, we had to keep asking.... we had thought we would be sight seeing for 6 hours. After 2 hours of nothing, we asked to be taken back to the ship. EXTREMELY disappointed. Bodden is a terrible company.

We truly enjoyed getting a driver to show us the full island. Our driver was educated and took us wherever we wanted to go. We saw the sloths, monkeys, and parrots.
