After leaving the ship they reached out to us to make sure they did not leave without us. Once we arrived at the location they gave us clear answers to everything we asked. We chose the horseback riding and atv ride. The scenery was beautiful on the horseback ride, they brought us through the water and it was amazing. When we got back we decided to not do the atv ride due to the dust so we have no review on that, overall it was a great experience and it was everything they advertised.

1.0 ATV + Horseback Riding: Headline: Major Safety Concerns & Poor Communication – Not Recommended

Our family was looking forward to this excursion more than anything else on our trip, but it turned out to be a disappointing and, more importantly, unsafe experience. I would not recommend this tour to anyone, especially families with minors. Pre-Tour Communication The issues began before we even arrived. There was zero proactive communication regarding pickup times. I had to send three separate messages to get the details. Even then, I received conflicting times simultaneously from two different people via WhatsApp and the Viator portal. ATV Experience: Negligence & Mechanical Failures Safety was non-existent during the ATV portion of the tour: Waivers: Upon arrival, the staff allowed my minor children (14 and 17) to sign their own legal consent forms. Language Barrier: Despite booking an English-speaking tour, our guide spoke very little English and could not provide adequate safety instructions. Lack of Training: My daughters have never ridden ATVs. When I asked for instructions, the guide tried to start the tour immediately. After I insisted, he only pointed out the brake and accelerator. Accident: Within the first minute, my 14-year-old drove into a ravine and the ATV flipped. She suffered cuts and scrapes. The staff never asked if she was okay and never offered first aid. Equipment Quality: The vehicles were in terrible condition. My ATV stalled seven times during the 45-minute ride, and my daughter’s stalled three times. Horseback Riding: Safety Risks While the horseback riding guide spoke English and gave better instructions, the safety issues continued: Unsuitable Horses: Shortly after starting, the guide admitted he told the staff not to give me my specific horse because it was known to kick when others got close. Dangerous Incident: Despite my best efforts to keep distance, another horse approached and mine began kicking and bucking. I had to insist on a horse swap immediately. Even after the guide took over that horse, the animal remained agitated and difficult to handle. Final Verdict This was not a professional or safe operation. Between the mechanical failures of the ATVs and being placed on a horse known to be reactive, I felt our safety was disregarded at every turn. Please look elsewhere if you want a secure and enjoyable experience for your family.

This was the best cruise excursion we booked for our spring break trip. We got off the boat early and got to the stand around 8:10 local time. We were able to have a private ATV experience with a very attentive guide and lots of photo opportunities. We even stopped at an overlook to take more photos and ask questions about the island. The horseback riding experience was wonderful. The guides were very experienced with helping each guest feel comfortable in their horse. They also stopped to take photos of us on our horses!! We never got hounded to purchase anything so that was very nice. Very safe and well organized!!

Booked this trip instead of the official cruise line excursions, and wound up with a private adventure for just the two of us which was an amazing bonus. Expected a little more information on Roatan and/or the rainforest or some of the plant/animal life we were seeing (the guides mostly talked among themselves throughout), but the views and experience of riding a horse through the water more than made up for it. Both ATVs and horses were incredible. Highly recommended!

My Family had an awesome time with ATV and Horseback riding. Henry was great guide for us on the ATV’s. We enjoyed the twist and turns. Great views by the water. Horseback was amazing as well. Riding thru the water a can’t miss. Definitely a Must do when you come to Mahogany Bay.

Horseback Riding and ATV was out best excursion this trip. It was pouring rain the whole morning but the team still made every experience incredible. Omar was out ATV guide and deserves special mention for his clear love of the island and sharing with us more about the people, culture and history of Roatan interspersed amongst thrilling (and extremely muddy) ATVing. We LOVED it all!

Not a great experience. Horses were malnourished and skinny. Horses also seemed to have a lot of indigestion problems, other than just a normal bowel movement. Over worked and under fed. As far as the ATVs, one stalled out 4 times, causing us to have to stop and start. At one point we didn’t know if it would even start again. One also had the whole chain come off, which was quickly fixed but should have never happened. Everyone was nice but wouldn’t waste money here.

Horses looked underfeed. Left us sitting for an hour after our excursion before we could go back to our port. ATV's broke down 1-7 times for several of our members. No apologies for ATV's not working. No apologies for not having a driver. Very much a waste of money. Be advised.

5.0 Excitment and Adventure from the Jungle to the Beach and Back.

We have been to Roatan multiple times over the last 15 years and we have always gone to the West End beach area and had a great time snorkeling and enjoying the day. We decided we wanted to try something different this year. Because we have always felt safe, and the locals have always been helpful, and most have spoken english, and the island is so small and you can get back to port so quickly, we were very comfortable booking an excursion from a Non-cruise company which we knew would save a lot of money. We chose Xplore Roatan based on some of the reviews and we were not disappointed. We have ridden horses on the ocean before in another country, but the ride was short and the scenary was not great. But first, from the moment we booked, Xplore communicated via email and then text to make sure we knew where to meet up the day of the excursion. We had on board wifi, they even texted the night before the excursion to make sure of the time for pickup. When we got to Port, we were instructed to meet on the main street outside of the port terminal (Royal Caribbean is farther away from the excursion than the other ships). After making it through the gauntlent of people selling things, there are a million taxi drivers offering their services right outside the gate. They asked where we wanted to go and we told them we were looking for Xplore Roatan and one of the nice young men walked us right over to where the person was holding up the company sign. The company rep had our name on his list, so I knew I was where I was supposed to be. A few minutes later, a different local young man did the same thing for another couple from our ship and that completed our group and we were put in a small tour bus and off to our adventure. Much easier than I thought it would be. Again, the locals in Roatan have always been so nice...more to come on that. We chose to do horseback riding first because it had rained hard in the morning and our guide told us we would likely get muddy on the ATV's and would probably enjoy ridiing the horses more before we were muddy. The horses were well behaved, easy to ride, and if you don't have any experience, will follow the leader, if you have any experience, they will do what you want them to do with the most gentle of commands. The ride through the jungle WAS GORGEOUS! It lasted about 20-30 minutes to the beach, and was a narrow and windy path that was fun to ride. It was under the canopy of the jungle the entire time. You were immersed in the jungle and it was awesome. Bug spray is a good idea to keep down the horse fly's and other insects. We arrived at the beach, took some photos, then rode down into the water and spent about 10 minutes riding in the ocean, again, a beautiful experience. There is something magical about feeling the water lap against you while riding the horse. Wear water shoes, or you can just ride barefoot which is what we did. Then back up through the jungle to where we started. In all, about 1 hour of pure bliss. We did a similar excursion on St. Martaan, and this was better by far. There were only 4 of us in the group and it was intimate and slow paced and fantastic. Then it was time for the ATC portion. For this part, we were added to another group that was just getting ready to go out which was not a big deal. We didn't book with the other couple that we joined up with from our ship so we weren't trying to keep a small group. There was about 10 of us total plus the guides. After a (Really quick) safety lesson on ATV's, we were off riding back down through the jungle again. This time again up and down winding paths and tracks that were decently aggressive if you wanted to be. You were allowed to slow down and go super slow if you needed to, or hang back a little and rip it up a bit if you wanted. The guides were there if there was an issue, but they pretty much let people do what they were comfortable doing. It had just rained and there were some big puddles and a lot of loose ground. It was a playground for fishtails and mud flinging. We rode all the way down to the beach, stopped to take some photos and take a break, then jumped back on and rode back up to where we started. Again, about 45mins to 1 hour total. This excursion was by far one of the most fun times my wife an I have had in a long time. We are both in our early 50's. We have zip lined, snorkeled, and other things like that. It's been 20 years since we rode ATV's and 7 or 8 years since we rode horses. Xplore Roatan knocked this one out of the park for us. Back to locals and how great they are. The other couple had never been to Roatan. They really wanted to go to the beach. So they asked if the driver could take us somewhere else instead of back to our ship. Xplore said they would allow that as part of the package, but then transportation back to the ship would be on our own which is totally fair and understanable. We asked our Driver if he would take us to West End and then would he be willing to come back and pick us up and take us to our ship for all aboard? He said that for $30 total, he would drive the four of us to West End, wait with us, and then drive us back to the ship at whatever time we were ready. I LOVE ROATAN!!! Thank You XPplore Roatan. you made our day so much fun. I surprised my wife with this excursion because it was our 30th anniversary and we wanted to be young kids again. You totally make it happen for us. Great job.

Instructors were very friendly and knowledgeable! Only bad thing is they didnt offer mosquitoe spray. We were attacked by mosquitoes! By the time we were done horseback rodding. We had around 100 bites on our legs and arms.

This was my fav excursion of them all! Wonderful way to spend my birthday. The meet up was complicated 😂😂 we actually had some locals that contacted our driver. There's a million guys holding signs and your just looking through a sea of faces for your ppl. That was a bit unnerving, but luckily a local guy was nice enough to call them for us. Once we were picked up it was sweet. The atvs were the BEST part! Talk about thrilling 😎🫶🏾😂😂the tour guide def took on us a rocky ride, which I loved because I had hoped it wouldn't be all boring straight trail. It was giving tropical jungle for real! We went up and down hills, rode over huge branches and rocks and ended up on a beautiful beach 🥰😍we were allowed to roam on our own for a while before we road off to the horses💙absolutely loved my horse! Def dont forget your bug spray!! I got are alive in during the horses😂😂🥲so spray up! This was thrilling. Bring cash for tips! I messed up on that part and didn't have enough cash😮‍💨i ended up having the driver stop somewhere on our way back to the port but most atms only give our Honduran money. Awesome folks, great tour! Would love to do it again 🤗🥳

Booked this last minute after already arriving in Roatan, but very glad I did. The meeting point is just a short walk across the street from the cruise terminal exit. The ATVs seemed to be well maintained and they had plenty of them. It was just my husband and I in the ATV group since we arrived after the first group left. Journey took as through the forest ending up at the ocean to take photos before heading back. The horseback riding was probably just as good if not better than the ATVs. Our guide Rol was excellent and spoke very good English. He asked as what our experience was and catered the rising pace to our skill level. It was just my husband and I again so we went at a faster pace than other groups since we have been horseback quite a number of times. We went through the jungle to the beach again (different trails that ATVs) and needed up at a beach. We then proceeded into the ocean on the horses before returning to the beach. Having done horseback riding in many countries, this was one of the best. Book it here instead of the through the cruise; it’s cheaper and a wonderful experience.

Wonderful experience at the adventure park! Special shout out to Andrea at the front desk! She took great care of us! Our ATV guide was awesome, he took us on a ride through lush jungle type terrain. The seashore which was gorgeous! We also did the horseback riding. This too was a great experience attributed mostly to the folks we were on a group with but also to our guides who made it easy to get on and off the horses and were so patient lining up the horses by the sea to take pictures of us group by our family or friend groups. It really is the little things that make these excisions special! Keep up the great work guys.

Amazing experience on the horses! The ATVs were a lot of fun ads ell! The guys were amazing and even loaned me a pair of shoes because it had rained and was muddy. Was proactive in picking us up even though we were never able to complete the pick up location question online. Was a huge relief when they called and texted the morning of the excursion.

Overall it is hard for me to write a good or a bad review. Getting to the place where the excursion was to happen was very hectic, most of it was due to a large group who showed up an hour late to get on the bus with us to the place, however, the inconvenience to my group could have been avoided if the tour operator just put the 6 of us who did show up on time on our on taxi to the place. This large group continued to ruin the experience for us because they did not all pay and continually argued with the workers. Sadly, we could not just be separated from them and do the excursions on our own. If we were able to do that I could write a much better review. The workers were very nice to us and apologized as much as possible for the other people but still did little to accommodate us. The 4-wheelers and horses were similar to what you would expect on a smaller island excursion and similar to what we had used before on other excursions with other companies in other places. However, the trails they had were much better as far as distance traveled and neat trails through the woods up and down hills. We even stopped at a secluded beach while on the 4-wheelers and got to swim and take beautiful scenery pictures. Overall, the workers were very nice I would just verify how many people are going at the same time and try to get a small nice group of travelers.
