Leon, our guide, was phenomenal. Probably the best guide that we have ever had on a tour. Not only did he take us to the various activities, he gave us a tour around town as well. Our ATV guide Jimmy was also excellent. We all loved the tour.

Great ATV excursion — thrilling ride from the ridge to the shore with absolutely stunning views the whole way. The trail offered a perfect mix of adventure and scenery, and the beach at the end was gorgeous and peaceful. At Manawakie Park we enjoyed delightful interactions with monkeys and a sloth — friendly, well cared-for animals that made the visit unforgettable. Andre was a great guide. The island itself was very clean and well cared for. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a fun, scenic outdoor experience.

Highly recommend this tour! We were a family of 8 and had an amazing experience from start to finish. Dale was our tour guide, and he was absolutely incredible. He picked us up right at the terminal exit and drove us to all the different stops included in the tour.
At the ATV site, he introduced us to three other amazing guides who led the ATV portion of the tour. Dale stayed on-site the entire time, so we always felt comfortable and well taken care of.
We had such a great time — definitely the highlight of our trip so far! Also, don’t forget to bring cash so you can tip the team for the amazing experience they provide. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely day out. A representative was waiting for us at the port and introduced us to our guide Kessi.
The car was parked around 2 minutes walk from the port. Kessi was very knowledgeable about the island and stayed with us through the whole morning. The quad biking was great, visiting beach and jungle. Rum and Chocolate tasting was interesting. The sloths and monkeys were very sweet. Our guide was flexible so we could have adjusted our schedule on the day if we had wished to do so but it suited us perfectly.

5.0 The Best of Honduras

If you are looking for a little bit of everything that Honduras has to offer, this is the tour for you. Our tour guide JJ met us at the cruise terminal exit and walked us to his van. The order of the experience was ATV first, Monkeys/Sloth second, Chocolate Factory third, and Rum last. The ATV portion lasted over an hour and we stopped at the beach midway for a short break and photos. Our guides were awesome! We also loved the monkeys and sloth and got some private time with them away from crowded groups. Our guide at the sanctuary was very nice, knowledgeable and funny. The stop at the Chocolate Factory was OK but the shop was very crowded with other tourists. We sampled the 2 tyoes of chocolate that were coming out of the fountain and bought some chocolate bars. Sadly, once we got home and ate what we purchased, we found that it didn't taste anything like what we had sampled. Once we got back in the van with JJ, we decided to skip the last part of the tour and head back to the ship for some late lunch. I highly recommend this tour and we loved chatting with JJ in the van. He was very friendly, polite, professional and knowledgeable.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. The ATV was the best. The monkey/sloth sanctuary was very short as was the chocolate and rum tour but the people were all nice. We had Ernie for a driver and he was fantastic! We still had some time after this excursion before our cruise left, so he even offered to take us other places.

1.0 disappointment in Roatan

we were handed off to a local person from the tour company that got lost going to the ATV location, and then also got lost going to the monkey/sloth location. when we finally got to the ATV location we had to wait over 45 minutes for the tour as they had just started a tour with one of the ships excursions and everywhere he brought us there was confusion between our guide and the location like nothing was arranged for in advance. on the ATV tour we only did about 5 miles an hour through the whole tour and the guide for that tour had a second guide hanging off the back of his ATV like he was in training thus possibly the reason they wouldn't go fast at all. at the monkey/sloth adventure we were added to the back of one of the ship's tours after they had already started and that was the same for the chocolate tasting that was nothing but a little chocolate shop in one of the local markets that makes their chocolate right there in a 20/20 shop. their was no rum tasting at all. all the main locations were the same locations that the cruise lines use but the cruise lines definitely take priority and the local tour companies are definitely put last. We definitely learned a lesson and will booking all future tours with the cruise lines cause the little bit we saved was not worth getting lost multiple times and the extra time on the excursion, that was supposed to be 4 hours but became over 6 hours and we never even made it to the Roatan sign for pictures like advertised

We had a great time. The ATV guides we great, patient and considerate with our inexperienced driver. We had a fun time with the monkey and sloth zoo. We took photos with both. But our tour guide Dale was very knowledgeable about the island and it's native culture. He was excellent.

Where do I start. Omar our guide was FANTASTIC!!!! He was very personable had great knowledge of the island, he also answered every question I asked about his culture. The monkeys were probably the best of our tour. They climb all over you as the instructor is putting peanuts on you head.
Highly recommend this tour of the island you will not be disappointed.

We had so much fun! Jessica made it feel like we were just hanging with our friend all day exploring the island. She's the best! We were sad we didn't get to hold the sloth because of new government regulations, but everything was just as described. Watch out for the monkeys. If they take your chapstick, then let them have it. 😂 Don't plan on playing in the beach, but this isn't truly a beach excursion. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Bring sunblock, wet wipes, and a positive attitude. That's all you need. Have a great time!!

The tour is excellent! We had great time on the ATV and the animal encounter. Our driver/guide Omar was just as friendly, funny and nice as he can be!! Kids had fun (except for the rum experience since they are under age) but definitely recommend to families with kids!

We had some difficulty connecting with the tour guide at first. But it turned out to be a wonderful day. It was very cool seeing the monkeys and sloths up close. Riding the ATVs through the jungle was a blast. Angel was a fantastic guide for the day and we also enjoyed the others that assisted with the ATV portion of the excursion.

5.0 Fun Day, Off the Beaten Path

A wonderful, fun, full day! Might get rained on, so bring a poncho. We got lucky and the rain stopped just before we started. Our driver and guide, JJ, was amazing!! Getting a local's point of view was awesome. The ATV ride had some of the most beautiful views, and the owner/operators of the ATV tour (Marlin and friends), were super helpful and made us feel at ease. The monkey and sloth sanctuary wasn't quite what I was expecting (in my head, we were going to walk through a forest), but was still cool. Having monkeys jump on your head or shoulders gave us a good laugh! Free samples at the chocolate and rum stops. We also got to stop at a new coffee place, and a gift shop owned by locals. All-in-all was a wonderful day!!

This was an awesome experience! After MSC cancelled an identical tour (because I'm over 60), we decided to try this excursion. It couldn't have gone better. Our driver was excellent, the ATV ride was great, and the rum tasting was superior (we bought some to bring home). We highly recommend this tour - and booking was easy!

We had a great time with this tour. There was just the 2 of us in a car, driven around the various activities. The itinery was changed around as the number of ATVs were full first thing so we did this at the end which meant we were the only ones apart from the guide. Our driver was great and very informative and was also happy for us to have an extra stop at a local brewery after the ATV.

The exit of the cruise port is a little manic with touts offering trips and rides but almost bang on time we were greeted by our tour guide. She dropped us off and picked us up for every leg of the trip. The ATV trip was the highlight. Our guides were honestly superb. Stopping for photos and information all the way. They took photos and videos for us and sent them through to us later. The people on the island were very friendly. Having not seen a sloth before we loved seeing them. The chocolate and rum tours are a little crowded but still a good experience. All in all a great day. Well worth it.

Omar was the absolute man! The second he picked us up we felt like family. He answered every question with respect throughout the entire day that he drove us around. He took us to a restaurant he highly suggested o eat iguana and it was so amazing! Everything about Honduras was 10x better with Omar. Eddie at the monkey and sloth spot was the ma as well. Funny and kind. I have nothing bad to say about the way these people carried themselves. Love and respect the whole time.

The tour was excellent. We loved the hour and a half of ATV-ing. And the animal enclosure was so much fun. The monkeys and birds crawling around on our heads and shoulders; and petting the sloths. Our driver was Selina Lucas - what a joy!!

The ATV experience was awesome, had been a lot of rain on the island so the trails were a little beat up but that didn't stop us from seeing a bunch of really cool parts of the island. The animal sanctuary was really cool and learned a lot about the animals in captivity. The chocolate / rum tours weren't really a "tour" in my opinion just more or less a shop to taste test and buy things but that's just the nature of it. We had a private tour cause there were no cruise ships that day which was really cool, felt very personal.

The ATV part of the trip was definitely the BEST part! And seeing the sloth and monkey was OK. The chocolate factory really wasn’t much of anything. Neither was the rum tasting. If I booked again, I would just do the ATV part of it. The young boy who took us out for the ATV tour was excellent!!!

Arnie was a blast! You know the folks you meet and they have an energy about them? That’s Arnie! Everything was seamless from pickup to drop off. He wanted us to go at our own pace, made sure we had a blast, and was a delight to talk to. I’m so glad we went with Breakaway! We had a wonderful tour that started with a fun ATV ride through the jungle, town and beach. The guides were so helpful and really looked out for each of us. It was my 12 year old granddaughter’s first time so one of the guides rode on the back to make sure she was safe. We visited and petted sloths and monkeys next. Interesting stops at rum factory and chocolate one where we really enjoyed the frozen chocolate covered fruit treats. There was a gas station with food stands inside across the street from the chocolate place where we got some great honduran coffee, local food and pizza. One of the benefits of this type of tour which is with your own private guide with just your group. We will be going back on another cruise next New year’s eve and will definitely book again with this group. Great value for the money and nice amount of time spent a little over 4 hours with time left to shop around port before we boarded ship. Our tour guide was JJ and he was fantastic!

We did the full town and ATV tour in Roatán, Honduras, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Jason was our tour guide, and he was absolutely amazing. He was very patient, extremely knowledgeable, and gave us a detailed overview of the entire route and the island before we got started.
Jason spoke perfect English, which made the tour easy to follow and enjoyable. He took us all around town, showed us key spots, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe the entire time. He truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience.
Highly recommend this tour — and if you can, ask for Jason. He made the experience exceptional!

5.0 Amazing Time in Roatan!

We visited Roatan via a Cruise ship! It was a little crazy figuring out where to meet our driver .... but once we found Jessica .... we had a blast! The ATV trip was amazing .... we were able to drive through some water and met some locals that opened up some fresh coconuts for us to try!
Then off to see the monkeys and sloths! I hated that we could not hold the sloths, but we were able to get up close and personal. Plenty of time to get some great photos! And the monkeys were awesome .... jumping on everyone -- one even opened up my friends backpack and took some tissues!
Then off to the chocolate factory where you can watch them make and taste some yummy chocolate! Be sure and get the frozen chocolate!
Then off for some amazing rum tasting and rum cake tasting .... where you have a great view outback!
Jessica was amazing and took us to a little market where we could purchase some souvenirs from the locals .... stopped to let us take pictures at the Roatan sign .... turned us on to a banana soda (yummy!) .... and even stopped to get us a local beer! We had a great time and Jessica was the BEST!

Today excursions was a fun and an enjoyable experience! From the start our tour guide JJ was helpful and knowledgeable about all things on the island. The ATVs tour was an amazing experience filled with beautiful sites. The sloth and the monkeys were super friendly and the tour guides were amazing there! The rum and chocolate factory were a great experience and beautiful sites. I love that no matter where we went; we were able to stop take photos and continue to be at our own pace. What really stood out for me is that when booking this excursion they make sure that you are only with your party and not with a group of people. Overall, everybody was super friendly and very encouraging. I would definitely go back and would love to get another tour with JJ

This was perfect and so was Omar, our guide! It was private so my husband and I could go at our own pace. The 4 wheeling was legit. Most of it was on really rocky washed out dirt roads up and down the mountain which made it really fun but not overly challenging if you are a beginner. We have been four wheeling a few times and found it to be adventurous.

We were on the Margaritaville cruise line and decided to book an excursion last minute. From start to finish we had nothing but an awesome experience. This was so much fun. ARNIE our driver was amazing. The ATV ride was fun. (Still waiting on our pictures) I would recommend gloves because our hands were sweating. The chocolate tasting and rum were nice too. Arnie did not rush us and took pictures of our group so everyone was in the pic. The beach was nice. We are lunch and swam in the ocean. There was even a little shopping there. I highly recommend this excursion!!!

This was the BEST thing we did while on a 7 night cruise that stopped in Roatan, Cozumel, and Costa Maya!
I was truly the most nervous about Roatan because of the negative press they receive due to mainland Honduras but this place was my FAVORITE of the 3 ports we visited. The people were extremely nice and friendly and helpful which I cannot say about every island I have visited while cruising.
We did a ton of research before selecting Breakaway Tours. I usually prefer to not book directly with the ship because I prefer to have a more authentic experience and I feel that the ship excursions are more expensive, crowded, and very little of the money actually goes to the people on the island. When researching online a lot of the comments about booking excursions in Roatan outside of the ship were fairly negative due to crime, etc. however this is all very false. What I learned while on the tour is that the bad rep Roatan gets is because of the mainland which is crime ridden, however this is not the case on the island.
Now onto the actual tour, we did an island tour with ATVs. The island tour was awesome, I learned so much from our tour guide Jay (JJ) and fell in love with Roatan. We stopped at a chocolate and rum cake factory and were able to sample and purchase some items. The best part of the experience were the ATVs! This was the best ATV experience I have done on an island. We were out for about an hour and a half and rode on a local beach where we paused for a bit to enjoy the water and the views, this was incredible! Jay was great as was this company and I do hope that you consider booking with Breakaway Tours for your next adventure because it was SO worth it!
