This is our second time to cruise to Roatan and this excursion booked through Viator was the best!! The first time we were in Roatan we booked an excursion to see Roatan through the cruise ship. We were very disappointed with that excursion. We were on a small bus and the excursion leaders were more interested in taking us to shops they had financial interest in rather than having a good sightseeing tour of the city. Really a waste of time. This new excursion through Viator was terrific! It was just my wife and I in a private car with our tour guide Brian Goodman. Brian was very focused on giving us ideas of things we might want to see and he wanted to know where we wanted to go and what our interests were. He is a long term resident of the Roatan and was extremely pleasant, informative, and entertaining. Meeting up with him at the cruise port was exactly as described when we booked the excursion, and he Brian returned us back to the cruise ship in ample time. Importantly we felt completely safe with this excursion. This was the highlight of the Roatan stop. I highly recommend this excursion.

Make sure you ask the company name before trying to meet up in the mob of vendors. Also ask meeting times so you’ll have a complete plan. Cynthia was AMAZING and she took us all over the island helping us with group pictures and telling facts from the route. We added a stop at the sanctuary and had an amazing time. ($20 extra per person…bring cash and plan ahead!) it was totally worth it. Also added an extra rum tasting near the chocolate factory and it was SO MUCH better than the Roatan Rum factory stop. We had a group of 8. We had our own private tour. It was 10 out of 10 for us. ❤️

We had an enjoyable day with our tour guide Tyler. He spoke really good English and was very knowledgeable about the beautiful island. We visited a roadside markets that sold local crafts, a coffee shop place and chocolate factory. Tyler introduced us to a banana soda it was sweet but very refreshing. Would book this again.

Excellent private tour of Roatan thanks above all to our guide (Elda). In addition to the scheduled places, it took us to places we wanted to visit, shops where we wanted to shop or restaurants with typical comfort that we loved. We felt like we got to see the entire island! Samantha was an amazing guide. Told her our top interests to see, which we visited all three. Then along the way asked to stop at other places that we wanted to visit after seeing. Definitely recommend going to the brewery as they have great beer and food. Skip the rum "distillery" as it is just a commercialized store selling rum and rum cakes that are overpriced for tourists.

Tyler made this experience great! Being born here he head all sorts of anecdotes on Island history, places to go and things to do. Honestly the run and chocolate "tours" left something to be desired, but he drove us to a monkey and sloth sanctuary which was the highlight of the day. Plus he took us to a local restaurant that was great with ocean views. Make sure to ask for Tyler as your driver!!

We were able to hit the places and do the activities we wanted to (Chocolate Factory, rum tasting, snorkeling, driving around the hills, walking through West End). This trip was extremely disappointing. Based on the reviews we read. First of all, the car they sent was in terrible condition, beat up seatbelts that did not work. After a while, the car broke down and we had to wait 30 minutes for another car. The second car wasmuch nicer and in much better condition. David, the guide, was a sweet young man, but not a very good guide. He did notseem to have a plan for the day and certainly did not seem to know where to take us. We were very disappointed.

We had a private tour of Roatan with Renie. What a great experience! He shared all the history of Roatan along with explanations of the culture. He drove us all over the island with commentary. The stops we had were beyond what we expected. Loved the special stops for some fresh mango, jerk chicken, and special pineapple cookies. We truly experienced the flavors of Roatan along with the rum, chocolate, and gorgeous scenery. Thank you Renie!!

So sorry for the delay in this review for Roatan Tucan Adventures on March 3, 2026. We arrived home on the afternoon of March 10 and both my wife and I came down with terrible colds, cough, fever. Not noro or covid thankfully but up and about now and wanted to express our sincere thanks to David our excursion host and to Roatan Tucan Adventures. They were truly the best. And after 38 cruises and multiple excursions I do not remember anyone better. The details of the excursion, the instructions leading up to the excursion were spot on. David did everything to make sure this was not just a ride to different spots on the island. He gave such an education while driving, while stopped, answering questions, and never once did we feel he wasn’t paying attention to his driving. This was truly the most enjoyable, best value, excursion I can remember taking. We all, the 4 of us, couldn’t stop talking about all we experienced once back on the ship. My best to everyone involved with Roatan Tucan Adventures.

Jeimi was our tour guide/driver and we LOVED our experience with her! It was well worth the money to have our own vehicle and customizable tour! She answered a ton of questions we had about the island and culture! And she was a good driver too! I’ve done similar tours in other countries where they drive like a maniac, but she was very considerate! We had a group of 10 with ages ranging from 6 months to 75 years and everyone had a good time! The AC worked well and was a nice reprieve from the heat and humidity! We loved getting her all to ourselves and not in a large group of 20-30! She also had a great suggestion for a restaurant for lunch that had great seafood and was right in the beach! We would definitely do this again and highly recommend Jeimi specifically! Thank you so much!!!!

Danny was a wonderful and patient tour guide. Before leaving the parking lot we discussed some things we definitely wanted to see and others we did not. While driving around the island he would tell us about the area we were going through or the area we were going to next. He gave us many opportunities to stop and get out. He is very knowledgeable since he is a native of the island. We really appreciated that he drove us all the way into the port (where the taxis and shopping area are) to drop us off at the end of our tour which was extremely helpful (since “Mama” is almost 90 and walks with a cane.)

Once we exited the port we located our tour company and met our driver/guide Jeime. We were inteoduced to the different communities and history of the islands, it's main industry and the different parts of Roatan. Jeime was flexible adjusting the tour to our needs. She was able answer all our questions. We tasted locallly made chocolates and rum taking home some souvenir samples. Two of us also had time for a quick swim and snorkel at west Bay beach which was good too.

We had David as our guide and couldn't have had a better driver/guide. He was informative, friendly and adapted our tour to suit us. We were able to get an overview of the island and also visit the chocolate and rum factory which were small locally owned spots and not your bus destinations which we loved. Please be advised that if you arrive via cruise ship, you will exit past the taxi stand and then have a small hill to walk up and down the other side to reach the tour operator. We would highly recommend this tour.

We had another couple with us and thought we'd give a non-cruise excursion a try. The private tour/car is the way to go now forever, even though I don't think we will ever find another tour guide to beat Alfredo!!! Alfredo gave us such a "back stage tour" of Roatan, so much more than just the tourist rum and chocolate stops, which made it even better. We can't thank him enough!! We had the best experience. Our guide Diana J. was the BEST! She did everything that we asked without hesitation. She was very knowledgeable and gave us the best experience. She helped us get great pictures. She took us to a great restaurant. She took us to an animal sanctuary that was great. We needed a safety pin to take back with us on the ship, and she made sure that she stopped by the local seamstress shop and went in and got it for us! She was appreciative of us and we were so appreciative of her. She made sure that we were back in port in time after she made sure that we did everything that we wanted to do. Such a fantastic day! From the detailed instructions on where to go when we got off our cruise ship to the full day of learning about the area in an air conditioned drive to all of the places we wanted to visit!
