Appreciate the serenity of the mangroves, learn to fish with a casting net with her experienced uncle, visit fisherman Island, where you can try your hand at drumming, then enjoy lunch on the beach in her local community. 10/10 experience!

I booked this tour as a Ship Excursion as our cruise-line did not offer tours of interest to me. The tour guide Yeimy contacted me a few days earlier providing details and meeting points for the tour which was convenient. Once we got to our meetup point we got into a taxi which took us to the local village and we got into canoes and were taken into the mangroves. Our guide Yeimy gave us lots of information regarding the mangroves and surrounding area. We got off the canoes and got demonstration on how to cast fishing nets. At fishing area, our guide offered us coconut water in real coconuts which was refreshing. The coconuts thoughtfully were in ice so the coconut water was nice and cold not warm. While fishing a tame rehabilitated raccoon was swimming towards us which was nice to see. Later we canoed towards a nature preserve which we saw some planted herbs, other animals and another raccoon. Some of us learned to drum like the locals. We canoed back to the village then walked towards the restaurant where we chose to have a local fish, fish soup and drink. After lunch we were picked up by our driver and left by cruise pier/ original meet up point. I enjoyed this tour very much.

A great excursion from pickup to drop-off. The tour was very engaging and well organized. Our tour guide, Andres, was kind and informative. He made everyone in our small group comfortable and get to socializing quickly. Looking back, maybe I would have covered up from the sun a little more with long sleeve linen or brought a small umbrella. Sandals were fine. Learning to toss the fishing net was a highlight, getting better with each try was a relief. The folks who curate this experience are chill and happy to have you. A great opportunity to see more of Colombia's biodiversity, off the beaten path.

A wonderful tour especially thanks to the dedicated Jamie, who also speaks very good English. You learn all about the mangroves, the wildlife, fishing and the people who live there. Drumming and dancing are also part of the program. Lunch, wonderful fish, is not to be missed.

This was such a lovely little experience! You’re driven to a small neighbourhood called La Boquilla and taken on a private ride through the mangroves. I then tried my hand at fishing and had a lovely traditional lunch on the beach. Overall, it felt like a very authentic experience and I had a great time.

Shay was wonderful and the local fishermen were helpful and very kind. It was very educational and fun we got to participate a lot. Shay was very knowledgable and happy to answer questions. It was nice to see another side of Cartagena. Her English was impeccable which was helpful for us. The food was really good and large portions. Pick up and drop off was well organized also. Great tour! We got to see the mangrove, learn about some Boquilla culture, and get in the water to fish! Kid friendly. The only downside was there was an issue with our bus, so we had to wait a bit longer to get us back to our hotel. The hosts handled it very well, and made sure we had drinks and shade while we waited.

Excellent experience and well-organized tour. Fun for kids. To immerse ourselves in nature so close to the city was a delight. Our whole experience felt very authentic and we got a real feel for la Boquilla. I would do the lunch option unless you pack lunch because by the end of the tour you will be hungry and won't be able to find the restaurants easily without the guide.

They must see experience. From start to finish we felt so taken care of and the ambiance was amazing. So past our expectations, we started off with a canoe ride around the mangrove, followed by crab fishing, and flounder fishing then we were brought to fisherman’s Island, where we learned how to dance play the drums and see the local animals and ended with a lovely lunch. Our tour guide Jamie was incredible and her uncle was very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone in Cartagena!!

We had a fantastic experience & highly recommend this excursion. I was originally looking for a food tour & couldn’t find one to fit our budget. When I read about this, it seemed like fun plus we got a Colombian meal with it. They took us in little boats through the stunning mangroves. They told us about the different types of mangroves, showed us termite nests, & pointed out little crabs on the surface. We dropped some crab cages to catch some crabs. We learned how to cast the fishing nets. Then we went to the island where we took part of Columbian dance & drumming. We proceeded to the crab cages to see what we caught. We went back to the land where we were served a Columbian meal. Our guides were an absolute blast. They had beautiful smiles & were very knowledgeable. They taught us & laughed with us. This was completely worth it & I’m so glad we booked it.

A great experience off the beaten track! The tour allows you to cut off from the city and appreciate the richness of the local flora and fauna. The team is made up of La Boquilla residents who are committed to showcasing their neighbourhood. I had a great morning, with rich exchanges that allowed me to better understand the history of Cartagena and its different faces, without forgetting the introduction to fishing which was a unique moment of sharing! I highly recommend this tour.

We were in Colombia for 2 weeks, but this was absolutely my favorite part! We were met at our hotel, right on time, and had a nice drive to the mangroves. Our tour guide met us right away and explained EVERYTHING. Although my friend and I often have an aversion to canoes, (I'm 67 and a bit "stiff") we were helped in and out of our boat, and it was quite comfortable seating. Our boat "pilot" was wonderful, sometimes walking the boat, other times in it, pushing with a pole. Mangrove water is quite shallow in parts. We learned all about the different types of mangrove plants and animals. We went to Fisherman's Island, which is a small sanctuary. We walked around, learning about the turtles, birds, and plants that lived there (plus a cat!) We sat in the shade, in a gazebo, and experienced the music, dance, and drinks of the locals. They even had skirts for us to wear and dance with them! After our island tour, we took our boat to where some locals were fishing. We watched as they threw their nets and pulled them in. We even got to try a few times! We caught some crabs and I caught a shrimp! So much fun! We travelled through a few mangrove "tunnels" on our way back to civilization. From there we were a short car ride to a local restaurant where we each ate a full red snapper fish lunch that was probably caught that morning. Lunch was unbelievably tasty! Our tour guide ate with us and was so entertaining, telling us about the local mangrove life here. It was sad to leave our new mangrove friends. Our ride back to our hotel went without issues. I highly recommend this tour!

This tour is a beautiful experience. The tour organizers are clear communicators, sending careful instructions and are responsive. We arranged for a pickup at our hotel, which is a great service they offer, and then enjoyed a brief history of the area, mangrove tour, fishing lesson, great conversation, lunch, beach time and much more. We learned so much about the ecosystem and the way the community is working hard to preserve the area for animals and residents. We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet the team and learn about their area. Definitely recommend to all.

If there was an option for 7 stars we would give that! Jamie was such a lovely and involved guide. She showed us the other side of Cartagena. The Mangroves are wonderful and La Boquilla has by far the best beaches of the city. We had loads of laughs with Jamir and Jamie on and in the water. If you are looking for an authentic tour in Cartagena don’t miss this one!

This was a truly authentic and fun experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. She was very detailed with the tour. She made sure we had a good time and took care of every detail from a timely pick up to explanation of all the environmental aspects through the mangrove tour and cheering us on when we tried fishing with a net. Seemingly easy but actually very hard! The lunch was delicious and way more than we could eat. I highly recommend this experience!

Absolutely a great experience with Andres our guide. Andres met us at the cruise port and saved us from being attacked by the multitude of taxi drivers. The fried fish lunch that was provided with soup, rice, salad and patacones was fantastic! Some beach time after lunch. The tour through the mangroves was fun, beautiful and interesting! This tour lived up to everything advertised and more. Truly, one of the best tours I have ever participated in and I've been on over 100 cruises and done many excursions. Highly highly recommended.

This experience was wonderful from start to finish, if you want to know something beyond the traditional in Cartagena you HAVE to do this experience, they picked me up at my hotel and in just 15 minutes I had arrived, the beach is really as they describe it, free tourist, vendors and very very relaxing, I could be there all day, lunch was the best I have had in Cartagena, it felt very fresh, natural and traditional (it is also included in the cost), then we moved to the of the mangrove, on the way I was able to see a little of the traditional town, when I arrived it was beautiful and everyone was friendly, I still can't decide what the best part of this experience was but it was really magical, I had never seen an ecosystem like this before, I learned a little about nature, dancing, and as if that were not enough, they taught me how to fish! This is truly an experience that everyone should live!

Terrible service! Since the begging the treatment was horrible, super bad customer service and communication. They told us they were going to pick us up 11:30am, my partner and I arranged the whole day for the tour and while we were waiting al the lobby they cancelled without a reasonable explanation. Wouldn’t recommend at all, don’t loose your time with this guys.

This was such an amazing and beautiful sightseeing tour, we had a good lunch and had a wonderful time at the beach afterwards we got on this boat well a canoe to be exact. Omg they gave coconut water which was so refreshing.We had a tour of the mangrove, we learned a lot from this experience as well we got to see, hear and play instruments at one of the stops, which was pretty cool because it’s was those instruments that navies would use back then as well as we learn their fishing techniques which my boyfriend loved that part. One of the best part of the tour was our tour guide yeimy, she is wonderful. Like the best of the best
