My grandson (10 years old) absolutely loved this. This tour was his idea🙂 We spent 2.5 hours as he looked at everything and tried several hands on displays

5.0 I am an aviation...

Twila_L, June 2026

I am an aviation /military fan. This museum is phenomenal. A lot of interactive activities which gives a good overview of the history of the Midway. The film at the entrance is a must see. There is a small, well-stocked book store in a corner right after the movie. Books are cheaper there than the souvenir store. The POW exhibit is sobering. The self guided tour is packed with information. The flight deck display of planes is comprehensive. The only negative is some of the kiosks didn’t connect with the hearing device. Disappointing. I spent 5 hrs touring the museum which is typical of me and museums. Don’t let that be a deterrent to your visit. As a side note, if you visit NOLA you have to, have to go to the WWII museum. So well done.

5.0 Fantastic Experience!

Anne_H, June 2026

Excellent exhibit. Highly recommend the "Bridge Tour." They take you to the Captain's tower where he would oversee where the ship was going. The mess hall where they ate was also very interesting. The homage to the POW's was also impactful. There are volunteer Navy men and women throughout the tour who are very happy to answer questions and share their experiences. It was amazing to see how the Midway operated as a city floating in the ocean!

5.0 Great family activity

Rainey_A, June 2026

The volunteers were incredibly nice and informative. They gave our 4 year old a scavenger hunt and he got to earn a pin after.

5.0 Step Back in Time on the USS Midway

Natalie_H, June 2026

We had a wonderful visit to the USS Midway Museum in San Diego! It was such an interesting and informative experience from start to finish. The movie at the beginning is an absolute must — it gives you a great understanding and appreciation before you explore the ship. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time because there is so much to see. I would recommend at least 3–4 hours so you don’t feel rushed. Also, definitely grab the audio tour when you walk in! You may think you won’t need it, but trust me — you do. It adds so much history and detail that you would miss otherwise. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and one I would absolutely do again. Highly recommend visiting if you are in San Diego!

5.0 A definite don’t miss

5.0 Best time ever!’

Maria_M, June 2026

it was a great experience. i suggest that younger kiddos (10-12) use the narrated version. keeps them busy. we all had a great time. a lot of walking, wear comfortable shoes.

3.0 Warm welcome

Climber66566826782, June 2026

I will begin this review by stating that I believe the charge of 41 dollars per person to enter the aircraft carrier is excessive. In other aircraft carriers and similar museums, the price does not reach this amount, and one finds the same experience. Aside from the entrance fee, I think the place is very nice. I enjoyed the café they have where one can enjoy a good moment at the site. The store is also very complete.

5.0 Something for EVERYONE

corrine l, May 2026

The USS Midway was one of the highlights of my trip and absolutely worth every penny! The ship itself is massive, and there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you want to spend a couple of hours or most of the day exploring, there is so much incredible history to take in. What really made the experience special were the volunteers. Hearing their real-life stories and experiences brought the ship’s history to life in such a meaningful way. They were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing their experiences. From the flight deck views to the interactive exhibits, every part of the museum was impressive. This is a must-do activity in San Diego for all ages — educational, entertaining, and unforgettable. Highly recommend visiting the USS Midway!

5.0 Amazing experience- bucket list tick!

MrsALR100, May 2026

Visiting the USS Midway Museum was absolutely amazing! After wanting to visit for so long, it definitely did not disappoint. Watching the introductory video in the cinema room and having a wonderful volunteer explain parts of the ship and its history was a fantastic start to the tour. We then spent hours exploring all of the different decks and honestly could have done with even longer! The staff and volunteers were all so lovely — they really make the experience with their enthusiasm, friendliness and knowledge. The ship itself is incredibly well preserved and so interesting to walk around. It’s also great value for money and in a brilliant location to explore the surrounding area afterwards. I would 100% return!

5.0 Very Impressive to Sea

dpandlisa, May 2026

We toured the midway museum, which is of course the aircraft carrier itself with a lot of modifications. But it is a great place to take the family with photo ops galore. A lot of veterans who served on this boat are part of the tour. Which is really nice. It’s a magnificent thing to behold. And the whole thing is done very well. There’s also a gift shop and a pretty nice restaurant where the whole family can find something to eat like fish and chips or pizza or sandwiches. I strongly recommend it.

5.0 A walk through history.

Bill_B, May 2026

Informative, Awesome, living history. Docents are well versed, and entertaining. Good personal stories, to go with the bigger story, that is Midway.

5.0 Exceptional visit - highly recommended.

Darren_T, May 2026

We absolutely loved this attraction, spent the whole day onboard and saw mostly everything we set out to see. The volunteers onboard are a wealth of information and so interesting to interact with. What’s particularly special about this museum attraction is that it’s hands on and they encourage to touch and try different things even sitting in the captains chair and plane cockpits. For us this was definitely an highlight of our visit to San Diego and highly recommend this attraction.

Jamie_L, May 2026

A really great piece of history to see up close and personal. After tour treat yourself to a good meal at one of many restaurants that are steps away. Some really nice shops to cruise through to work off that meal.

5.0 Go! See it!

sharonsA2347VT, May 2026

Go! You will enjoy this tour. It is a truly patriotic experience to see this aircraft carrier along with assorted planes and helicopters, which make you proud of American know-how and resolve. A timely experience in this our 250th year as a nation!

5.0 Must see in San Diego

Steele_ITA, May 2026

Interesting tour in this fantastic aircraft carrier. Beautiful both the interior and the aircraft on display. Possibility to see the F14 Tomcat and to climb on a cockpit section for a souvenir photo. Nice use of veterans explaining various parts of the ship. In English, of course. Audio guides included in the ticket are also available. It takes about a couple of good hours to visit it well.

5.0 Loved this museum! It’s a must!

Kevin W, May 2026

We read that we should go early and immediately go to the Tower/Island tour, as it can fill up quickly. You get to go up to the Captains “nest” and see how the aircraft carrier is actually steered and all the amazing flight deck operations are coordinated. Then went to the flight deck to talk to all the volunteers who actually served on the carrier, while checking out the plethora of jets, helicopters and other support craft that are used. Then we went to the lowest areas of the ship to check out the inner workings ie kitchens, sleeping quarters, laundry areas etc. Then we checked out the middle/hanger area to see a movie and more airplanes. The bathrooms are located on the top two decks, so plan accordingly before going below deck. We were moving at a casual pace to see everything and burned up 5 hours. Also, be aware that there are a lot of steep stairs/ladders if you want to see all the areas.

5.0 Impressive as...

5.0 So worth it

417juliec417, April 2026

This was a great experience we were there like 6 hours went to every level of the ship even the tower. the tickets were a little expensive but so worth it. it is so big even though there were lots of people it did not feel crowded. So much history. There are volunteers that tell stories and talk and explain everything. it was so worth it.

Timothy_V, April 2026

Excellent tour guides, especially for the command tower. Also, the “Yellow Hats” (veterans) were great to talk to, with many having served on the USS Midway. Excellent self guided tour as well, and I was amazed by the Battle of Midway. Lots of walking and stairs.

5.0 Great visit to USS Midway

Ann1945, April 2026

Informative. Lots of volunteers to give you more information. We were there from 10 to 3:30 pm and could have stayed longer. Buy your ticket ahead of time as ticket lint was super long. I bought mine from TripAdvisor.

5.0 Best historical experience

Nancy D, April 2026

If you don't know the history behind Midway the tour does a great job of explaining how it came about. Seeing the airplanes they flew and their living quarters gives you a whole different perspective what they experienced and how much they truly sacrificed. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job explaining everything. Definitely a "must see" excursion if you enjoy history, have a military background or want to learn what really happened.

3.0 OVERPRICED

Marcelle312578, April 2026

Very overpriced entrance fee for this tour. At $40 per adult I find it very expensive

5.0 Very comprehensive picture of life on board

Soultraveler2022, April 2026

This museum aboard an old aircraft carrier gives a very comprehensive picture of life on board. The museum is packed with all kinds of planes and there are all kinds of facilities to visit, such as the hairdresser, the laundry room, the laundry room and the prison. Several enthusiastic volunteers are happy to tell you all sorts of things and for children there is a fun treasure hunt.

5.0 Lots of stairs fyi, but...

Tanya_M, April 2026

Lots of stairs fyi, but totally worth it! You start with a 10-minute movie and then free to roam. Flight deck is amazing. Actual retired flight pilot talking about how planes landed (or didn’t quite).

5.0 Midway tour

Carol_A, April 2026

This was an awesome tour of an aircraft carrier. Very informative and interesting. My husband loves this type of tour and said he could of stayed 2 more hours looking at everything beyond the 5 hours we were already there

A lot of walking and narrow stairs ways, overall a very good experience and information about the ship.
